Colony High cancels pep rally after reported threat

A day after Alaska State Troopers responded to a reported threat of violence at Houston High School, another alleged threat caused officials to cancel a pep rally at another Valley school on Friday.

Parents of students at Colony High School were notified earlier this afternoon that a threat of harm was made and a scheduled pep assembly for Colony's winter homecoming was canceled. The basketball games will go on as scheduled, but all other homecoming events are canceled. Rumor is there was a student escorted by police out of the building.

"CHS did cancel their assembly and a message went out to parents," said Mat-Su Borough School District Public Information Officer Jillian Morrissey. "Their administration is left to determine fact from fiction."
