Colony High custodian wanted on child porn charges captured in Florida

PALMER — Treyvon Johnson, indicted on 20 felony counts of possession and distribution of child pornography, as well as tampering with evidence, was arrested in Florida Monday after an arrest warrant was issued by a Palmer grand jury on March 16.

According to Matanuska-Susitna Borough School District spokesperson Catherine Esary, Johnson has been employed with the district as a Colony High School custodian for about a year-and-a-half. Johnson faces 10 counts of possession of child pornography and 10 counts of distributing child pornography.

According to charging documents, the possession charges stem from a March 9, 2017 investigation in which Alaska Bureau of Investigation (ABI) alleged Johnson possessed 10 videos on a hard drive. The 10 distribution charges stem from an Alaska State Trooper (AST) investigation started on Jan. 22, 2017 and involved 10 electronic photographs. The video and picture file titles appear to indicate pedophilia, rape, toddlers and pre-teens.

According to an AST dispatch, Broward County Sheriff deputies arrested Johnson at a Lauderhill, Florida residence after the Palmer district attorney's office issued an extradictable warrant. The dispatch states plans are underway to return Johnson to Alaska to face the filed charges.

ABI Investigator Robert Bressler was interviewed by the grand jury during the hearing, according to filed documents. Esary said the district does conduct background checks on all potential applicants/employees and confirmed that Johnson is not currently on working status with the district.

"The district is cooperating fully with the Alaska State Troopers and the investigation," Esary stated in an email. "If members of the community have any information that is helpful to the troopers, they should contact AST."

The court set bail at $50,000 cash appearance and court-appointed third party. According to online court records, Johnson has had no other misdemeanor or felony charges filed against him in the state of Alaska. AST reports it continues its investigation against Johnson.
