A Colony High School graduate and former Knights multisport standout earned his first Alaska Baseball League victory on the mound with the Mat-Su Miners. Ben Alley pitched a pair of scoreless innings to help Mat-Su grab a 6-0 win over the Chugiak Chinooks Thursday night at Hermon Brothers Field in Palmer.
Alley, Mason Bradenberger and Daniel Frake combined to throw a one-hitter. Brandenberger made the start and fanned six hitters over three innings.
Mat-Su improved to 3-0 with the win.
The bulk of Mat-Su’s offense came during a five-run fifth. Blake Avila smacked a three-run homer. Casey Sunseri sparked the Miners with a run-scoring single. Carter Young also scored on a wild pitch.
