ANCHORAGE — Colony High School students demonstrated their versatile skill sets at the Alaska State SkillsUSA conference March 19-21 at the Downtown Hilton Hotel.
• In Extemporaneous Speaking, Daniel Coon and Skye Dagenhart placed second and third, respectively.
• In the open Job Skills Demonstration event, Jarret Hart and Courtney Mulkins tied for first. Lilly Birch took second, followed by Jana Jenkins.
• In the Job Skills Demonstration ‘A’ division, Colby Lord took first, followed by Benjamin Dillow in second and Austin Shaw in third.
• In the Job Interview event, Emma German took first, followed by Tristan Boyd in second.
• In the Promotional Bulletin Board event, Colby Lord and Cooper Smith took first, followed by Benjamin Dillow, Josh Finch and Tristan Boyd in second.
• Olivia Bishop won the Chapter Display event.
• In the Related Technical Math event, Emma German and Gavin Birch placed first and second, respectively.
• In the first-year Technical Drafting event, Jarrett Hart and Brianna Graham placed first and second, respectively.
• In the Advanced Technical Drafting event, Emma German took first and Brennen Tuning placed took third.
• In the Architectural Drafting event, Whitley Mattern and Samuel Johnson took second and third, respectively.
• Jana Jenkins won the Power Equipment Technology event, followed by Cy Eller in second in Lilly Birch in third.
• Benjamin Dillow won the Welding event and Colton Bontrager took third place.
• Emma German, Whitley Mattern, Courtney Mulkins, Austin Shaw and Samuel Johnson won the Quiz Bowl event. Lilly Birch, Gavin Birch, Olivia Bishop, Mitchell Daigle and Curtis Foster took third place.
Colony’s new Skills USA state officers for the 2015/2016 school year are Vice President Jana Jenkins, Secretary Skye Dagenhart, Treasurer Colby Lord, Parliamentarian Cooper Smith and Historian Lilly Birch.
