The Colony Knights and Juneau-Douglas Crimson Bears made Alaska prep soccer history Friday night. A pair of head coaches with more than 400 career wins met in a match for the first time in the 49th state.

Juneau head coach Gary Lenhart is the state’s all-time career wins leader in high school soccer. Colony head coach Jeremy Johnson is second on Alaska’s boys soccer wins list with 412 career victories.

The Knights and Bears played to a pair of ties over the weekend. Colony and Juneau tied 2-2 on Friday and 1-1 on Saturday. Senior Johnny Figgins scored all three goals for the Knights.

Colony fell behind 2-0 on Friday. Figgins scored early in the second half to cut Juneua’s lead in half. Figgins later broke into the box and placed a shot in the lower right corner of the net during the 72nd minute to tie the score at 2.

Juneau took a 1-0 lead on Saturday, but Figgins was able to provide the game-tying score once again.

The Colony girls blanked Juneau on back-to-back days, beating the Crimson Bears 5-0 and 2-0. Avrie Geigerich scored all seven goals for the Knights. Addi Stewart recorded the shutout for the Knights each day.
