PALMER — Homer put together an 18-point fourth quarter, but Colony held on for a 53-49 win over the Mariners at Colony High School on Saturday.
Colony senior captain John Palmer scored 17 points to lead the Knights to the Northern Lights Conference win. Senior Scott Herman added 11 points to help the Knights improve to 7-1 in NLC play. Sophomore Jared Turner added nine points during the victory.
Luke Garvey led Homer with 14 points.
Herman and Palmer combined for 14 first-quarter points to lead the Knights to a 71-32 win over Skyview on Friday. Herman scored a game-high 12, while Palmer added 11.
Jordan Jones led Skyview with 10 points.
Freshman Allison Leigh scored a game-high nine points to lead the Colony girls to a 55-15 win over Homer on Saturday. Colony (7-1) also received nine-point efforts from freshman Mary Klapperich and sophomore Alyssa Hutchins.
Ivy O’Guinn hit a pair of three-pointers and scored a team-best of 11 for Skyivew.
Klapperich and her older sister Kaityln combined for 25 points during a 63-32 win over Skyview on Friday. Hutchins added 13 in the victory.
Liz Needham led the Mariners with seven.
