PALMER — Students at Colony Middle School were treated to a Rotary Career Fair at their school recently.
During the past 12 years, Rotarians have worked with more than 12,000 Mat-Su Borough School District eighth-graders at middle school career fairs.
Rotarians answers questions such as: “Who do you work for?” “Where do you work?” “What is your job title?” and “What is your job like?”
Rotarians share a broad look into career choices and work options with students and give them a “real world” look into the world of work.
Presenters at Colony Middle were Deb Bushnell, nurse practitioner; Norm Harris of Protecting Alaska’s Natural Resources; Courtney Brooks Smith, marketing and communications; Tim Mulliken, land surveyor; Dan Kennedy, CPA; Matt Teaford, MSBSD EEO officer; Leo Von Scheben, architect; and Michael Miller, computer specialist.
Additional career fairs are planned at other district schools this spring.
