PALMER — Numerous Colony Middle School students showed off their talents in conjunction with visiting artists from across the Valley and even Eagle River during the school’s booster club’s fundraising concert.
While the turnout was rather small this year, CMS music director Tobias Lambert said that overall, this fundraising concert was a success and they pulled in a couple of hundred dollars. He said they’ve made over $1,000 in years past but all in all, this year’s show made all the effort worth the while.
“I would say it went pretty successful overall,” Lambert said.
The booster club holds fundraisers every year, and they try to hold this particular fundraiser annually or at least biannually, according to Lambert. He said it helps the booster club offset costs for student summer art and music camps.
They’ve had a variety of artists come through over the years, according to Lambert. While CMS is focusing on music, they invite all kinds of arts and artists to join them.
“We try to get different kinds of artists from around the Valley so that we can promote the arts in the Valley to the community,” Lambert said.
This year, they saw performances from groups like Jay’s Taekwondo, String Essence, and a Zumba studio from Eagle River. Lambert said it’s a chance for the various artists to promote their works while supporting the booster club’s efforts.
The booster club helps out in countless ways, according to Lambert. He said that their works range from field trip support to helping out other local fundraisers.
“The list goes on and on what that booster club’s helped with over the years,” Lambert said.
CMS is gearing up for another slew of concerts and other performances starting in February and moving onward.
