The Wasilla Sunrise Rotary Club has chosen as its Mat-Su Borough Teacher of the Year, Jason Marvel of Colony Middle School. His extraordinary efforts with Rotary have earned him our consideration and appreciation.
Marvel recently challenged our Rotary club to make a positive change in our community as to the domestic violence/abuse that is prevalent in so many Valley homes. A year ago, WSRC was also enthralled with his national “Freedom Writers” efforts.
Marvel has been a host dad to Lara Ruefenacht, a Rotary exchange student from Switzerland. Marvel was also the superstar presenter/facilitator at the recent three-day Rotary Youth Leadership Award conference with more than 50 high school students from the Yukon and Alaska.
