Colony opens running season with a sweep at the Redington Invite

The Colony Knights opened the 2024 prep cross-country running season with a clean sweep of the Redington Top Dog Invite Saturday at Redington.

The Knights won both team titles and boasted each individual winner during the meet that also featured Wasilla and Palmer.

Seniors Coby Marvin and Ella Hopkins each placed first for the Knights. Marvin won the boys race with a time of 15 minutes, 36 seconds. Hopkins was first for the girls with a mark of 17:23.

Colony was first in the boys team standings with 25 total points, and the girls were first with 27.

Trygve Vang-Thompson (fourth), Gabriel Black (fifth), Corbin Wilson (seventh), Theodore Stamoolis (eighth), London Ramirez (ninth) and Thomas Coombs (10th) also finished in the top 10 for the CHS boys.

Isela Austin (fourth), Rachel Danz (sixth), Elliot Sensabaugh (seventh), Elise LeCont (ninth) and Luci Wright (10th) were in the top 10 for the Colony girls.

Wasilla’s Stephen Hafen and Hailee Giacobbe each posted runner-up finishes in the varsity races. Hafen was second in the boys race with a time of 15:47, and Giacobbe was second for the girls with a mark of 17:34.

The Wasilla boys were second in the team standings with 44 points, and the Warriors girls were second with 48 points.

Blaze Rubeo also finished third for the Wasilla boys. Kinley Bruno placed fifth for the Wasilla girls.

Karley Tichenor led Palmer with a third-place finish for the girls. Finn Adams was sixth to lead the Moose boys.

Daisy Cardoso was 18th to lead the Redington girls.

Eli Redmond had a time of 19:44 to lead the Houston boys. Conner Lavalier led Redington in the boys race with a time of 22:00.
