The Colony Knights continued their run through the Mat-Su, posting a 6-2 win over the Colony Knights Jan. 22 at the Menard Arena In Wasilla,
Aidan Finch led Colony with ta hat trick in the victory. Finch also scored two of Colony’s three power play goals. Kayden Lynch added a goal with the man advantage. Robbie Bundt and Kaden Ketchum also scored for Colony.
Austin Peterson recorded both of Wasilla’s goals.
Peterson gave Wasilla an early lead, tallying a shorthanded goal with 7:55 left in the first period. Finch provided the quick answer, netting a pair of goals during a 27-second span to give the Knights at quick 2-1 lead. Colony scored four times in the first period, including goals by Lynch and Yundt during the final four minutes of the opening frame.
Colony outshot the Warriors 14-1 in the first period. Thirteen of Wasilla’s 16 total shots came in the second. Colony netminder Kaylee Norman made 14 saves in the win. Wasilla’s Jakob Barcelona stopped 37 shots in the loss.
Colony improved to 4-0 with the win. Wasilla dropped to 1-3.
Palmer scored its second win over Houston of the season, beating the Hawks 3-1 at the Big Lake Recreation Center Jan. 22.
Jeremy Horacek led the Moose with a two-point night. Horacek used a shorthanded goal to give Palmer a lead with 8:56 left in the second. He also assisted on Gavin Gore’s goal midway through he period. Xander Logan also scored for Palmer.
Anfim Konev recorded the lone goal for Houston.
Palmer outshot Houston 36-20 in the game. Joseph Horacek made 19 saves in the win. Houston’s Kevin Lewis stopped 33 shots in the loss.
Valley hockey intradistrict play continues Wednesday. Wasilla hosts Palmer at the Brett Memorial Ice Arena at 5:30 p.m. Colony visits Houston at the Big Lake Recreation Center at 7 p.m.
