ANCHORAGE — Abe Meyerhofer capped his prep career as the top skier in the Mat-Su Valley.

The Colony senior finished 12th in the boys’ 10-kilometer mass start classic on Friday to host the highest individual finish of any Valley skier during the three-day ASAA/First National Bank Nordic Ski State Championships at Kincaid Park in Anchorage.

Meyerhofer was 17th in the freestyle on Thursday.

Meyerhofer and Palmer’s Schyler Knopp were the only Valley skiers to post top 20 finishes during the state meet. Knopp was 17th in Saturday’s classic.

Meyerhofer led Colony to an eighth-place finish in the boys’ team standings. Knopp and the Moose finished 11th.

Susitna Valley’s Morgan Michels was the top Valley skier in the girls’ class, placing 46th on Thursday and 50th on Friday.
