Another Valley basketball standout hit a career milestone.
Last week, Wasilla senior Mylee Anderson hit 1,000 career points during a girls basketball win over Juneau-Douglas. And now, Colony senior Hallie Clark eclipsed 2,000.
Clark, the reigning 4A girls player of the year, buried a three-pointer at the first-quarter buzzer to score the 2,000th point of her career during a 63-21 win over rival Palmer Tuesday night at Palmer High School.
Clark finished with a game-high 23 points in the win. She hit five three-pointers. All of her scoring came in the first three quarters of play.
Last week, Clark was named tournament MVP after leading the Knights to the title during the Lady Lynx Shootout at Dimond High School in Anchorage.
Jericho Wuestenburg scored 14 for Colony in the win. Ally Shelley added nine.
Colony jumped to a 22-4 lead in the win.
Presley Wright and Jasmine Hephner scored six each for Palmer.
The Colony boys edged Palmer 43-40 later in the evening.
Colony’s defense was key in the second quarter. After falling behind 11-9, Colony ended the half on an 11-3 run and did not allow a Moose field goal in the second quarter. Logan Rolston hit three free throws in the second to account for Palmer’s scoring.
Palmer did outscore Colony 16-14 in the fourth, but the Knights held on.
Malik Balmes led Colony with 11. Leyton Lockard added eight and Mylz Mongeau chipped in seven.
Rolston and Logan McCann scored nine each for the Moose. Lukas Owen and KJ Henry had seven each.
