Colony senior pins title at Dimond tourney

ANCHORAGE — It didn’t take long for Colony senior Ty Farber to pin the 220-pound title.

Farber needed only 30 seconds to stick Service’s Derrick Zorea to the mat to win the individual crown during the championship round of the Glenn Vandergaw Invitational at Dimond High School in Anchorage on Saturday.

Farber, one of four Knights to advance to the finals, helped Colony finish third in the team standings with his win. Spencer Adams (126 pounds), Simon Root (160) and Ian MacKenzie (195) also advanced to the finals for Colony and finished second.

Defending state champion Wasilla, which wrestled without a number of its top athletes, finished sixth in the team standings. Heavyweight Ryan Pomrenke represented the Warriors in the finals and finished second.

Palmer was eighth in the team standings. Luke Heun (145) and Ben Button (195) led the Moose with fourth-place finishes.
