Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

ANCHORAGE — Colony High junior Tracen Knopp earned a top-5 finish during the annual Dimond Lynx Loppet at Kincaid Park in Anchorage over the weekend.
Knopp finished with a two-day total time of 26 minutes, 23.5 seconds, landing him fifth overall in the boys’ individual standings. Knopp posted a mark of 14:10 in the 4.8-kilometer classic race on Friday, and followed with a time of 12:13 in the 4.8-K freestyle the following day. Knopp placed fifth in the classic race and was eighth in the freestyle race.
Knopp helped Colony finish sixth in the team standings, with a two-day combined time of 1:56:28.
Josiah Alverts led Palmer with an 18th-place finish, and total time of 27:59. Alverts finished with a mark of 15:17 in the classic and 12:41 in the freestyle. Dakota Peterson-Thompson finished 35th for Colony and Eli Ickes led Wasilla with a 43rd-place finish.
Colony’s Jordyn Block led Valley skiers in the girls’ class with a 19th-place overall finish, and two-day combined time of 34:21. Block clocked a time of 18:50 in the classic and 15:30 in the freestyle. Palmer’s top skier, Rya Berrigan, followed in 20th place, with a total time of 34:29. Colony’s Lisbeth Olsen was 21st.
