Colony softball team wins tourney

PALMER — Mackenzie Everett pitched a one-hit shutout to help the Colony Knights beat Bartlett 3-0 and finish perfect during the Spring Fling Invitational fast pitch softball tournament last weekend.

Everett fanned 12 hitters and walked only one during the win over the Golden Bears. After a slow start at the plate, Faith Nelson started the fifth inning with a triple for CHS. Kylie Finley followed with a run-scoring single, and Nelson crossed the plate to give the Knights the 1-0 lead. Finley later scored on a Courtney Mulkins bunt. Mulkins scored late in the inning on a Chelsea Friesen double.

Colony finished 4-0 in the tournament. The Knights started with an 8-3 win over Bartlett on Thursday. Colony beat Service 10-8 and Thunder Mountain 12-2 on Saturday.
