PALMER - Students at Colony High School and Colony Middle School were placed into a “Stay Put” order after Alaska State Troopers notified the Mat-Su Borough School District of a suspicious person in the area.
“Colony High School and Colony Middle School have been given the ‘All Clear’ from law enforcement at this time,” said MSBSD Public Information Officer Jillian Morrissey.
The Safety Resource Officer that is stationed at CHS and CMS is not an Alaska State Trooper, but a Wasilla Police Department officer.
“There was a brief lockdown earlier this afternoon at Colony High School after a man armed with a long gun was spotted walking down a road near the school,” said Department of Public Safety Information Officer Austin McDaniel. “Law enforcement did not locate the individual and no arrests have been made.”
According to CHS Principal Brendan McMahon, the notice was received at about 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday and was in effect until 2:00 p.m.
