MAT-Su - Fast-pitch softball, soccer and track-and-field teams all head into the postseason today.
In the softball tournament at Cartee Field in Anchorage, Colony was to play Chugiak in a 1 p.m. game. The winner of that game advances to a 2:30 p.m. game against the winner of the West Valley vs. Lathrop contest, which also starts at 1. The loser of the Colony-Chugiak contest plays the loser of West Valley-Lathrop.
The Region III soccer tournament, for both the boys and girls teams, will be today and Saturday at Skyview High School near Soldotna.
Colony will be the top seed for both the boys and the girls.
The boys team wrapped up an 8-1 season (10-2 overall) with an 8-1 victory over Houston. The Monday match was a make-up game.
The Knights have a 10 a.m. game today, followed by a 4 p.m. second-round match. Several of the players said Wednesday they still had not heard who they will play in the first round.
Palmer and Wasilla boys also play in the eight-team regionals.
The regional championship game will be at 4 p.m. Saturday.
On the girls side, Colony, Wasilla and Palmer all send teams to the games, which start at 10 a.m. and noon today. The girls championship game will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
