Colver right man for the job

To the editor:

When I moved to Alaska in 1976 I was struck by how caring people were. Total strangers looked out for each other. If you were short a dollar at the grocery store or the post office you could bet someone would offer to make up the difference. The tough weather, the great distance from family and the knowledge that you never knew when you would be the one needing a hand made Alaskans band together. We were proud of this. Bumper stickers proclaimed, “We don’t care how they do it in the Lower 48.” It was evident in politics. Party was not really important. Can you get the job done and do you have the best interests of your constituents at heart was what we cared about. Times have changed. Cooperation is a dirty word. Jim Colver has been a hard working responsive member of the House. Because he put his constituents ahead of politics he is being targeted by his own party. If we want a legislature that can ‘get things done’ we need to keep Jim in Juneau. It’s up to us to change the gridlock in the legislature. Jim Colver has shown he puts us first-no matter the political price.
