For the first time ever, Anchorage will be hosting Navy Week. The U.S. Navy announces the inaugural Anchorage Navy Week, taking place June 16-22, 2025, which will bring 70-85 Sailors to engage directly with the community through a week-long series of performances, educational events and service projects.

This milestone event marks the first-ever Navy Week in Alaska and Anchorage. Since 2005, the U.S. Navy has come home to up to 15 cities across the country every year. Navy Week offers people unique opportunity to interact with Sailors and learn more about the Navy’s role in national security and global stability.

The Navy Week program has served as the Navy's principal outreach effort into areas of the nation without a significant Navy presence, with over 300 Navy Weeks held in 95 different U.S. cities. The program is designed to share with Americans how their Navy is deployed around the world and around the clock, and why a strong Navy is vital to protecting the American way of life.

Navy Weeks focus a variety of outreach assets, equipment and personnel on a single city for a week-long series of events with key influencers and organizations across the market. During a Navy Week, 75-100 outreach events will occur in participation with corporate, civic, government, education, media, veterans and community service organizations throughout the city.

This year’s 2025 Navy Week schedule holds special significance as it coincides with the U.S. Navy’s 250th birthday — a historic milestone celebrating a quarter-millennium of maritime excellence, national security, and global leadership.

“America is a maritime nation! Today, 90% of commerce travels across the oceans that the Navy has protected for 250 years, and we’re thrilled to bring your Navy Sailors to Anchorage,” said Cmdr. Julie Holland, Navy Office of Community Outreach director. “Sailors are the reason America’s Navy is the most powerful in the world, and Navy Weeks are an opportunity to showcase our 250-year tradition and share with the Anchorage community why we continue to be a decisive global power from seabed to cyberspace.”

The week will feature a dynamic lineup of activities designed to educate, inspire, and strengthen community ties:

-Senior Navy Leaders: Meet and hear from senior Navy officials, including those with local ties to Alaska, and Anchorage Navy Week Senior Executive Rear Admiral Susan Bryer Joyner, Director, Warfighting Integration Directorate, NN2N61, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations.

-Namesake Ships: Interact with Sailors serving aboard the amphibious transport dock USS Anchorage (LPD 23), the ballistic missile submarine USS Alaska (SSBN-732), and the destroyer Pre-Commissioning Unit, Ted Stevens (DDG 128). The vessels themselves won’t be in port.

-U.S. Navy Band Northwest: Enjoy live musical performances and masterclasses led by talented Navy musicians.
