The public has until 5 p.m., May 2 to comment to the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities on newly proposed regulations to the Naturally Occurring Asbestos Program. The proposed regulations are available for review online at dot.alaska.gov/noaprogram.
The Naturally Occurring Asbestos Program provides state granted immunity to land owners and contractors who adhere to a specified set of procedures designed to prevent naturally occurring asbestos from compromising worksite safety.
The proposed regulations would require applicants to define both a designated worksite and a site-specific plan to qualify for acceptance to the program.
