WASILLA - A new theater complex for Wasilla moved closer to reality after the planning commission passed a resolution at its June 27 meeting.
The Wasilla Planning Commission approved plans for a 51,976 square-foot theater at the corner of Knik-Goose Bay Road and the Palmer-Wasilla Highway Extension. The applicant for the permit was Rim Engineering for Meeser Construction.
Who will run the theater and the number of screens remain unknown, but the multiplex will seat about 2,000, said Sandra Garley, city planner.
In other business, the commission recommended a preferred Main Street improvement alternative route. The commission will meet with the city council in a joint work session to discuss its choice on July 10.
