Community councils change postponed

PALMER — A measure that would allow community councils to open their rolls to landowners rather than just residents was put off until April 2012.

According to Mat-Su Borough Mayor Larry DeVilbiss’ regular podcast on the borough’s website, the delay was an attempt to solicit more input on the ordinance.

“The intent of postponing it was to give all of the community councils opportunity to meet and weigh in on it,” DeVilbiss said.

But before delaying it, the assembly made it clear that the idea wasn’t to force community councils to make the change.
