To the editor,
I have asked many people living in Willow if they would support and ride a commuter rail car with heated rail stops at Talkeetna, Willow, Wasilla, and Anchorage. Everybody answered, “Yes”, with enthusiasm! Many people would very much like to have a method of transportation available other than driving their car. Many retired folks either cannot or do not wish to drive themselves, anymore. It would be a blessing to all of us, also, in case of bad weather or car trouble. Such a rail service would raise our quality of life and our property values by encouraging more people to buy houses further out into Mat-Su Borough areas. For a good picture of a self-propelled rail car already owned by Alaska Railroad see: http://alaskarenewableenergy.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/05_2009-DMU-along-turnagain_horiz_lores.jpg
Please send your letter or email to Alaska Railroad and to your representatives in support of this new commuter rail service.
