Construction Continues

PALMER — As the summer of construction has bled over into the fall and early winter of construction, Palmer drivers are beginning to see the results of construction crews’ hard work. The Department of Transportation Glenn Highway Widening project from mile 38 to 43 is nearing the completion of work for 2019. In downtown Palmer across from City Hall, a new traffic pattern exists on Evergreen Avenue. A driver traveling east on Evergreen will no longer have a right turn lane to turn onto Cobb Street. Instead, the left lane of eastbound Evergreen will be a left turn only lane. Inversely, the westbound lane of Evergreen will be a left turn only lane onto Cobb Street. On the edge of town, the Colony Way exit paving has been completed. Along the west edge of the Glenn Highway, Moore Road paving has been completed. Moore road is the new frontage road that has been added from Cienna Avenue across from Inner Springer all the way to Glacier View Avenue. The divided highway paving has been completed with an indented median that stretches from Glacier View Avenue all the way to Outer Springer Loop. While traffic lights have been erected along the five mile widening project, signals have yet to become operational. Department of Transportation officials estimate that work will stop due to weather late in October or early in November.
