Members of the Military Vehicle Preservation Association are driving a convoy of 60 historic vehicles up the Alaska Highway this month.
The convoy’s 200 participants will pass through the Mat-Su Valley Aug. 17.
Sheep Mountain Lodge will provide free coffee and cookies on the front lawn for the group, which will arrive in waves between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m.
The group plans to stop for lunch at the Alaska State Fairgrounds in Palmer before continuing on to the Hatcher Pass RV Park in Willow, where it will overnight before heading up the Parks Highway. The convoy left Dawson City, Canada, Aug. 3 and expects to travel 4,100 miles in 27 days.
The convoy ends Aug. 30 in Dawson City.
