WASILLA — Employers and job seekers across Alaska are invited to participate in the upcoming 907 Job Fair, a virtual employment event hosted by Cook Inlet Tribal Council and its employment department, Alaska’s People.
This free event is open to the public and takes place March 31 from 12 to 4 p.m.
“We realized with this virtual software we have, we could create a very large applicant pool by making it statewide,” Alaska’s People senior manager, BreeAnn Davis said. “Everyone’s having a hiring crisis right now, and there are lots of people looking for jobs who are willing to relocate.”
Alaska’s People is a member of the CITC family that works to connect Alaska Native/American Indian people in the Cook Inlet region to employment and training opportunities on top of actively recruiting the best candidates for the organization’s workforce, according to a recent press release. They will be hosting virtual training sessions for participating employees on how to use the software required for the 907 Job Fair prior to the actual event.
CITC and Alaska’s People are currently seeking Alaskan employers to take advantage of this hiring opportunity and utilize their platform to hire employees for seasonal and permanent positions across a variety of industries such as hospitality, retail, healthcare, construction, and social services. CITC public relations specialist, Lexi Trainer said the virtual model has numerous benefits, including ease of access and flexibility for job seekers, noting that applicants can even send video resumes to be shared amongst employers in their chosen fields without having to attend tune into the event itself.
“You can visit multiple people without having to leave your own home,” CITC public relations specialist, Lexi Trainer said.
According to Trainer, the 907 Job Fair is one of the numerous programs CITC offers to support Alaskans.
“One of our missions is to help people reach their potential. We just really want to make sure they’re provided with these opportunities to find a job that’s a good fit for them and a good fit for their employer. We want to set people up for success, not just in the short term, but the long term,” Trainer said.
Employers looking to be included in the informational social media announcements prior to the event are asked to submit their information by March 15. They can register for the event at citci.org/jobfair.
