Cook-off winner raises funds to compete in national event

The Three Dogs Chili Team is raising money to travel to Manchester, N.H., to represent Alaska in the 45th Annual World Championship Chili Cook-Off Sept. 30 to Oct. 2.

The team qualified for the event at the Alaska State Fair by winning top honors in the Chili Verde category and third in the traditional Texas Red category. The team is entering the green, red and people’s choice competitions at the cook-off in New Hampshire.

While Chris Daw and teammate Angela Conway earned a slot at the world championships, getting there is another matter. The team needs to raise about $3,000 to cover airfare, lodging and other expenses related to getting themselves and their gear to Manchester, Daw said.
