SEWARD HIGHWAY, MILE 107 — A vehicle reported stolen out of Wasilla was recovered after Alaska State Parks Rangers contacted two suspicious vehicles and several individuals near Mile 107, Seward Highway.

Alaska State Troopers responded at about 12:22 a.m., May 23 along with additional Park Rangers, Wildlife Troopers, U.S. Forest Service and a U.S. Secret Service Agent after several of the individuals fled from the scene on foot, according to trooper dispatches.

“It appeared the individuals were in the process of dismantling one of the vehicles,” troopers wrote.

Troopers say their investigation revealed the vehicle being dismantled at the highway pullout was stolen out of Wasilla.

Two of the four individuals found and detained were identified as Ronald Folasa, 21, and Loelu Sasiu, 19, of Anchorage.

Folasa was arrested on an outstanding warrant for assault and destruction of property and remanded to the Anchorage Jail in lieu of $250 bond.

Sasiu was arrested and charged with vehicle theft and evidence tampering, and remanded at the Anchorage Jail in lieu of $7,500 bond.

Charges on additional suspects are pending, troopers say.
