Corrections issued for 2014 state sportfishing booklet

WASILLA — The new sport fishing regulation booklets have only been available for a few weeks and corrections are already needed to keep southcentral anglers legal. Three corrections were included in a recent Fish and Game news release, but only one directly impacts the Mat-Su Valley.

Quoting from the release: “Page 25 – Deshka River drainage (3rd bullet), within that portion open to king salmon fishing, the dates when only unbaited, artificial lures are allowed should be changed to September 1-May 31. Anglers are reminded that emergency Order No. 2-KS-2-06-14 issued February 27, that restricted bait use during the king salmon season in 2014, supersedes this correction to the regulation summary booklet.”

The other two corrections affect Slikok Creek and Upper Killey River and Skilak Lake on the Kenai Peninsula. For more information check the corrected regulations online at: http://www.adfg.alaska.gov/index.cfm?adfg=fishregulations.sport and click on “Southcentral Alaska Regulations.”
