WASILLA — The public is invited to an unveiling ceremony for the Cottonwood Creek Mat-Su Urban Pathways Project from 4 to 5 p.m., Aug. 31, at 550 W. 7th Ave., behind Johnsons Tire in Wasilla.
Organized by Envision Mat-Su, the event also marks the formal announcement of the group’s change in vision, mission and work, according to president Jeremiah Millen.
In August, the Friends of Mat-Su group adopted the name Envision Mat-Su, he said.
“Much of our work as Envision Mat-Su focuses on developing projects and initiatives that promote healthy, livable and thriving communities and strong local economies,” Millen said. “We look forward to sharing our new programs and initiatives in the future.”
Millen said the effort included stream bank restoration and a newly constructed bridge, with a railing designed and built by local artist Holly Gittlein.
The unveiling includes a ribbon cutting ceremony and several key speakers who will talk about the project and the importance of healthy salmon populations in the Mat-Su Valley and surrounding areas.
