Dwight Yoakam will bring his signature blend of honky-tonk, rock and bluegrass to the Alaska State Fair, performing on Sunday, August 31, at 6 p.m. as part of the 2025 ConocoPhillips Alaska Concert Series, fair officials announced Monday. Tickets go on sale to the general public this Friday, May 23, at 10 a.m. at alaskastatefair.org.

Since breaking out with his 1986 debut “Guitars, Cadillacs, Etc., Etc., Yoakam” has sold over 26 million albums worldwide, earned 21 Grammy nominations (with multiple wins), and scored a string of chart-topping hits including “A Thousand Miles from Nowhere,” “Fast as You,” “Little Sister,” “Honky Tonk Man” and “Streets of Bakersfield,” his iconic duet with Buck Owens.

A pioneer of the “California country” sound, Yoakam helped revive classic Bakersfield twang for a new generation, infusing it with a rock ‘n’ roll spirit all his own. His latest release, “Brighter Days”—his 21st studio album—showcases his enduring vocal power and songwriting range, with standout tracks like the high-energy “I Don’t Know How to Say Goodbye (Bang Bang Boom Boom).” His influence reaches far beyond country—landing him collaborations with artists from Post Malone to Chris Hillman, and appearances everywhere from Stagecoach to the Greek Theatre.

Tickets to the show go on sale at 10 a.m. AKDT Friday, May 23, at alaskastatefair.org. Yoakam joins the previously announced acts: Medium Build on August 15, Rainbow Kitten Surprise on August 16, “Weird Al” Yankovic on August 17, Chris Tomlin on August 18, Mastodon on August 22, Billy Currington on August 23, Wiz Khalifa on August 24, Sean Paul on August 28 and Foreigner on August 30.

Concert-goers have the option to purchase concert-only tickets or tickets including Fair admission. The included admission is at a discounted price and is good for the day of the concert only. Concert tickets including Fair admission must be purchased by August 14. Details on ticket options and pricing are available on the Fair website. Convenience fees apply to all online concert ticket purchases. Visit alaskastatefair.org for additional information on this act and upcoming concert announcements.
