WASILLA - A three-vehicle accident near Mile 52.5 on the Parks Highway killed a 53-year-old Big Lake man Friday.
The collision took place in the recently established “highway safety corridor” between Church Road and Big Lake Road.
The accident occurred when Steven Lavine's Subaru sedan was rear-ended by a Ford pickup truck driven by Arnold Lane. The impact pushed Lavine's car into the southbound lane, where a Matanuska Telephone Association box truck struck the
Subaru.
Lavine died on the scene from his injuries, according to an Alaska State Troopers report.
All three victims were riding alone, and none of the other drivers was seriously injured. Troopers said all three victims appeared to be wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, and alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
