Crash kills Palmer teen

A Palmer teen died after her vehicle hit a tree off Trunk Road Sunday.

According to Alaska State Trooper reports, Sharday Nichole Badillo, 17, of Palmer, was driving south on Trunk Road, just past its intersection with the Palmer-Wasilla Highway at about 3:30 p.m. The 1998 black Ford Ranger she was driving apparently slid out of control and struck a tree, and Badillo died at the scene. Trooper spokesman Greg Wilkinson said alcohol was not a factor in the accident. Information about whether Badillo was wearing a safety belt was not available at press time Monday.
