WASILLA— Local musician Jamie Bailey recently participated in a question and answer interview to discuss his recent participation in a national music contest called “The Opening Act” and his latest melodic ventures.
’“They all voted online… We didn’t make it. It is what it is. Maybe next year. Maybe next time. It would have been a great stepping stone.”
“We got a lot of exposure out of it. We’ve got two, three songs that are gonna come out. We’ll be just fine… I met a lot of good people.”
Q: How have things been in general?“I’m just having fun with it, man… I do all my own lyrics and all my own vocals.
“It’s great therapy for the soul.”
“I think that if I sing the right song at the right time and the right person hears it, they’ll have a piece of my heart and life will be better. You find songs at certain times in your life where it just really means something… It’s for fun. I didn’t quit my day job.”
“Just making something from nothing… There’s nothing more gratifying.”
“I think it’s because of all the people who want me to. I have so many songs inside of me that are undeveloped that want to come out. That’s what calls me, to share that music for people who like it and enjoy it… When they put your music on between sets and the people go out and start dancing. They don’t know you’re singing it. They don’t know who you are but they like the words and they like the song. It isn’t about you or even what you created. You just kick back with the song.”
“Keep making music and see what happens.”
