PALMER — For the first time in its 33-year history, the Alaska Scottish Highland Games took place at the Alaska State Fairgrounds in Palmer from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday.

After several days of rain, Saturday featured clear skies and balmy temperatures, which likely contributed to the festivals strong turnout.

Pipe and drum bands, Scottish Field events, the Kilted Mile and a wide array of vendors were included in the annual festival, which relocated to the fairgrounds this year after it outgrew its Eagle River home.

The band "Seven Nations" also performed two shows during the day-long festival.
