WASILLA — A cyclist suffered minor injuries on Saturday after he was struck by a car while trying to cross Seward Meridian Parkway at its intersection with the Palmer-Wasilla Highway.

According to Wasilla Police Department officer Jeff Sheveland, the cyclist did not suffer life-threatening injuries in the crash, which took place just before noon at the busy intersection.

The driver of the vehicle who hit the cyclist said he was making a right turn onto the highway when he struck the cyclist. Sheveland said no citations were issued and that he could not identify the driver or the cyclist until the department issues a press release about the incident on Monday.

The cyclist was transported to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center after complaining of injuries to his leg and wrist. He was able to stand and was talking with medics as he and his bicycle were loaded into an ambulance at the scene.
