‘D.C. two-step’ hurts us all

First off, I’m not a Republican or a Democrat, and I’m not a Tea Party fan. I am independent in ideals, but not with any political party whatsoever. The extremes most of the parties have slid into are, frankly, repellent, and in this day and age, are toxic.

The current blame game all those in Washington, D.C., are playing is going to hurt this nation in ways that beggar belief. I blame all of them for this mess our nation faces — from the president to both houses of Congress. Our economy is going down the tubes. And yet, none of our elected leadership can do anything to stem it. They are doing the D.C. two-step on our heads.

The president got it right when he said that the nation voted for a divided government, not a dysfunctional one. And let’s face that hard fact — it has become dysfunctional.

Those in power are only selfishly concerned with retaining their power by any means. And what about the people? Well, “We the People” are going to be left holding the bag as this country gets flushed down the toilet.

Wake up, people. The Tea Party, Republicans, Democrats, the whole Congress and the president are to blame. The polar extremes of left and right are to blame, as is the total greed of Wall Street and today’s major corporations. Our house is ablaze and it is only a matter of time before it crumbles to the ground.

Can something be done to stem this? Perhaps. But only, and I do mean only, if all the parties come together and work together. Dump the party of “no” stance. Dump the “no compromise” stance. Dump the, “I’m in power and you’re not” stance. And dump the, “I’m more concerned about being re-elected” stance.

Oh yeah, dump the village idiots who think a wink and a nod with witty sayings are our best solutions to this mess. The ones who believe that turning this country into a walled-off Christian enclave will not help either.

In short, pick up the fire hose and put the fire out. Do something! “We the People” are blazing mad at all of you in D.C. Notice I said “all.” The D.C. two-step needs to go the way of disco — extinction. Dance on your own time, Washington, not on the people’s time. You work for us, not the other way around.
