Wet and windy weather has caused advisories on sections of both the Glenn and Parks highways.
The 511 driving conditions service has issued a warning of difficult to very difficult driving on a the Glenn Highway from Eklutna Milepost 26.5 all the way to Milepost 174. Expect ice build up, black ice, icy patches, snow on the road, a mix of falling rain and snow and strong gusts of wind. Moose have been reported on the roadway from Milepost 66 to Milepost 119. Use extreme caution around the Eureka Summit at Milepost 129.5.
On the Parks Highway, ice build up, black ice, icy patches, falling rain and snow and gusty winds have been reported on the section from the Glenn Highway Junction to Milepost 52. Conditions get bad again at the Talkeetna Spur turnoff until Milepost 194.5, with snow increasing as drivers head north. Strong winds are reported at Honolulu Hill and East Fork Hill.
Additionally, driving conditions are difficult on Petersville Road, with icy patches, moose on the road and heavy snow.
