Daniel Everett Sonnentag

Daniel Everett Sonnentag of Wasilla, Alaska went to be with the Lord on December 7, 2022, with his wife, children and grandchildren by his side.

Daniel was born in Leona, WI on September 1, 1944 and was the 3rd of 9 children to Jacob and Lorraine Sonnentag, who both preceded him in death. Daniel’s family moved to Anchorage in 1959 when he was a teenager. He graduated from East High School and after serving time in the U.S. Army, he met the love of his life, Anette Huron and they married at Holy Family Cathedral in Anchorage in 1968. In 1977, Daniel moved his family to Medford, Oregon, where they lived until 2005, when they decided to return home to Alaska. Daniel was an avid hunter, fisherman, and skeet shooter, but most of all loved spending every weekend with his family. He cherished his moose, caribou and bird hunting trips with his sons, sons-in-law, and grandchildren.

Daniel is survived by his wife of 54 years, Anette; daughters Dawn Baham (husband Kevin) and Linda Guertin (husband Shaun); sons Dan Sonnentag (wife Gretchen) and Everett Sonnentag (wife Alysa); grandchildren Daniel, Alex and Catherine Baham (fiancé Keith), Kaylee Edmonds (husband Nova) and Hayden and Ty Sonnentag; great-granddaughter Parker Edmonds; brothers Bud, Greg (Patsy), Tim (Denise) and Chuck (Cheryl) Sonnentag; sisters Darlene King (Gene), Marie Penrod (Russell), Barbara Slama (Mark) and Becky Gerondale (Richard); and several nieces and nephews. Daniel was loved by so many and will truly be missed. Heaven has truly gained an angel.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 23, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1201 Bogard Rd, Wasilla, Alaska.
