Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Funeral services for Dannie Lou Whitman Worthy, 58, of Kellyton, Ala., were on Monday, Nov. 26, 2001, at Jackson's Gap Baptist Church. Dr. Gerald Hallmark, Dr. Donald Bailey and the Revs. Ralph Jernigan and Larry Coates officiated. Burial followed at Alexander City cemetery.
Mrs. Worthy died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001. She was born April 3, 1943. She was described as a loving and faithful wife and a dedicated pastor's wife for 38 years. She served in mission's work in Willow, which she greatly loved, for the past two years. She was a secretary.
She is survived by her husband of 41 years, the Rev. Charles S. Worthy Sr. of Kellyton and Willow; her mother, Zona Ann Evers Whitman; one daughter, Patsy Lynn Worthy Prater and husband the Rev. Reuben of Alexander City, Ala.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles S. Worth Jr. and wife, Kelli, of Eclectic and John Daniel Worthy and wife, Stephanie, of Deatsville, Ala.; one brother, Dale Whitman of Dadeville, Ala.; two sisters, Ruth Ann Fuller of Dadeville and Elaine Dunn of Daviston, Ala.; aunt, Addie Sorrell of Kellyton; 10 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Dan Frank Whitman.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Willow First Baptist Church building fund, P.O. Box 145, Willow, AK 99688. Langley Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
