Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Mat-Su resident David Prescott Holmes, 43, died Nov. 4, 2005, in Palmer.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday,at Valley Funeral Home in Wasilla, with Pastor Peter Gallardo officiating. Burial will follow at Wasilla Aurora Cemetery.
Mr. Holmes was born Dec. 16, 1961, in Garden Grove, Calif. He had resided in the Mat-Su since the summer of 1976, and worked several years as an auto mechanic.
His family wrote, “David loved living in Alaska and spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren, who meant the world to him. David loved music and enjoyed singing and playing his guitar. We will miss him very much.”
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Holmes.
Survivors are his mother, Ruth Holmes of Palmer; daughters, Maria, Kathleen, Samantha, Brandi and Bethany; sons, Daniel, Michael and Christopher; daughter-in-law, Kelly; grandsons, Devon and Drew Dalmolin and Antonio and Justin Henderson-Borough; granddaughter, Kate Lynn Holmes; sisters, Heather Calkins and Sandra Holmes; brother, Bruce Holmes; brother-in-law, Pete Calkins; sister-in-law, Carol Holmes, and many nieces and nephews.#
