MAT-SU — Does the sunshine beaming through your office window make you wish you had a way out during your workday afternoon?
Luckily, the United Way of Mat-Su has a great invitation that could include your whole business, or just a few friends.
During its 2015 Day of Caring event, Valley residents are invited to sign up to help local non-profits with various tasks and projects at their locations. Many groups, like the Big Lake Library, The Children’s Place, and Family Promise Mat-Su are looking for help with updating their yards and getting flowers planted to bloom. CCS Early Learning is looking to update their playground, and even demolish walls. Mat-Su Services for Children and Adults is looking for a group to clean and detail their fleet vehicles.
Day of Caring 2014 had a record 175 volunteers tackled more than 17 projects.
As a bonus, Cherie LeBlanc-Shue, Resource Development Director of United Way Mat-Su, said the annual community workday is a lot of fun.
The Day of Caring is part of the United Way’s three-part approach: Give. Advocate. Volunteer, she said.
While Monday is the Day of Caring kick off, the United Way hopes to extend the effort all week, LeBlanc-Shue said.
