I awoke this morning feeling enthused, although still suffering the end effects of a nasty cold that took its grip late last week. I’m not about to let it get the best of me and delay the start of my journey to good health.
Breakfast, the first obstacle of the day. A couple of scrambled eggs with crushed pepper flakes, accompanied by the morning’s first cup of java with Splenda (no sugar) and 2% milk (I dumped the sweet, yummy, flavored stuff down the sink last night). Thankfully, I researched enough diet options and found one that wouldn't deprive me of my morning java. The world would be a very ugly place if I were forced to abstain. The flavoring I can live without, the coffee, however, is out of the question.
Getting through the first morning was a breeze, especially since our CEO was in town today and kept me very occupied. Drink lots of water keeps running through my head. Then came lunch.
As is customary when John is in town, we headed out to Evangelos and asked Greg to join us. All that pasta, pizza and other wonderful smelling stuff…. Drink more water!
Greg and I were both good. I opted for the Greek Salad. Drink more water!
John wrapped up his visit around 2:30, leaving me just about enough time to catch up a few emails and head out the door for my visit with the personal strainer, er trainer from the new AT&T Sports Center.
Bill, my trainer, gave me a nice tour of the new facility. It’s really impressive. All those wonderful, new smelling pieces of equipment lined up so neatly in rows. Bill took it easy on me today, only making me walk up and down the stairs and around the facility for the tour. He did warn me to come prepared to work tomorrow.
Dinner was lean pork and a generous helping of steamed cauliflower. No bread, no mashed potatoes or pasta, and definitely no dessert. Even more water! I can hear my blood flowing more freely every minute.
No time for temptation to set in tonight. The registrations for this contest are really pouring in. As of tonight, we have nearly 490 people registered to join us on this journey to good health, and about 159 of you had weighed in by 5pm at the AT&T Sports Center. For those of you who haven’t hit the scales yet, the AT&T Sports Center is open through Sunday for weighing and the Mat-Su Regional Medical Center Urgent Care Facility is open Wednesday from 4 to 8pm, Thursday 9am to 1pm and Saturday 9am to 1pm.
I hope you all had a great first day to and I look forward to seeing you in the loser’s circle in April.
