Alaska Tobacco Prevention and Control Program has extended its Dear Me, Hear Me contest through Aug. 1.
The contest asks tobacco users to write a candid letter about their battle with tobacco use in order to share their stories of how tobacco use has affected their lives. Letters will be reviewed and 10 semifinalists will win Flip cameras to film and share their stories via YouTube. Two of the 10 semifinalists will be selected to receive $500 and be filmed as part of a statewide campaign. In addition, everyone who enters the contest will receive a “quit kit” of Dear Me promotional items to encourage quitting tobacco use.
Over the last year and a half, the campaign has been an integral part of helping Alaskans quit tobacco by encouraging thoughts of quitting and increasing the number of quit attempts and calls to Alaska’s Tobacco Quit Line, (800) QUIT-NOW.
To enter, visit Alaskaquitline.com to submit contact information and a Dear Me letter.
