To the editor:
The family of Howell Powder, both here and afar, would like to express our gratitude for all that has been done following Howell’s death.
First and foremost to Alaska State Troopers Sgt. Herrell and Officer Leventry, who when faced with the unexpected arrival of Howell’s wife at the accident scene, responded with a kindness that will never be forgotten.
Secondly to the friends, neighbors and co-workers who cared for us and worked together to create an amazing gathering at which more than 300 people were able to share their grief and memories.
Thank you to the high school cross-country coaches for honoring Howell and his daughter with the most colorful race of the season, and to the Mat-Su Borough Assembly for the very personalized memorial proclamation.
And finally to everyone who gave us support then and continue to do so now with words of condolences and acts of compassion. You help to soften the edges of our very deep sorrow.
The Powders
