Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Ms. Debra Lynn Riem died peacefully in her Willow home surrounded by her family on Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, at the age of 55.
Ms. Riem was born July 12, 1947, in Mangum, Okla. She moved to Alaska in 1959 with her family to homestead in the Goose Creek area. She attended East High School, graduating in 1967, and spent her life loving and living in Alaska.
Her family said, "Debra's family, home and critters were her greatest joy. She made her mark by creating the 'Lollipop Cinema' at the Alaska State Fair that later inspired the Alaskan Rock and Roll Candy Company. She had a love for life that touched those who knew her and her faith in God was unbreakable."
She is survived by partner James Liller; daughter Misti Forrest; mother Sue Riem; brother Dan Riem; many dear friends; loved ones and last but not least, her hound dog Copper.
