Nickoli Jr.

Charles A. Nickoli Jr., 50, died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2006, in Palmer, at the Mat-Su Regional Medical Center.

The family received friends Thursday, Dec. 21, 2006, in the chapel at Fairbanks Funeral Home.

His body was transported to Kaltag for Saturday services. A full obituary will be announced at a later date.

Arrangements were by Fairbanks Funeral Home and

Crematory.

Steven E. LaVine

Steven E. LaVine, 53, died Dec. 15, 2006, from injuries sustained in a vehicle accident. A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 22, 2006, after the viewing at 9:30 a.m. at Valley Funeral Home and Crematory in Wasilla.

Interment will follow the services at Wasilla Aurora Cemetery.

He was born April 14t, 1953, in Potsdam, N.Y. He received his G.E.D. and was a certified welder. In 1979, he moved to Alaska, living in Anchorage from 1979-1980. In 1980, he moved to Wasilla, where he lived until 1992, when he moved to Seward until 1996. Then in 1996, he moved back to Wasilla, where he spent the rest of his life.

His family stated, &#8220He lived a very full and happy life with many talents. He was an artist, a musician, a minister and a great friend to everyone. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, (including) several friends and business owners in Alaska and in other states. His mother is in Heaven with him.”

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Dorothy LaVine; children, Sandy LaVine, Steven E. LaVine Jr., Donna Buckwalter married to Daniel Buckwalter, Darlene Antila and Steven James LaVine married to Connie LaVine; many grandchildren, including Destiny Ojala, Mariah Lynn, Shandelle Rhyne, Casey Buckwalter Jr., Daniel Buckwalter Jr., Phillip Dennington, Loyd Dennington, Victory Dennington, Faith LaVine, Stevie LaVine, Anthony LaVine and Jamie LaVine; and many relatives in Potsdam. He would soon have also been grandfather to twin granddaughters, and another grandchild, whom he would have loved to have seen.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ann Dibble.

The family would appreciate flowers at the service.

Arrangements were with Valley Funeral Home and Crematory in Wasilla.

Frank Dwain

Johnson

Frank Dwain Johnson, 75, died Dec. 18, 2006, at Providence Medical Center in Anchorage.

A service was Thursday, Dec. 21, 2006, at Witzleben Chapel in Anchorage. Pallbearers were Kevin, Nathan, Arin, Zachary, Gary and Dave.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at the

American Legion Post 11 in Fairbanks.

He was born Nov. 26, 1931, in Carter, S.D. He graduated from high school and attended two years of college. He served as a GM2 in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1951-1954.

He lived in Fairbanks from 1962-1996 before moving to Wasilla in 1996, where he lived until his death. He worked at Clear Air Force Base in 1962. He then worked for the Fairbanks International Airport. He retired from Mapco Refinery in North Pole in 1991.

He was a member of the American Legion. He was presented with the Governor's Award for Fire/Safety Coordinator by Mayor Coghill of Nenana.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking, backyard barbecues, parties, playing his guitar and sing-alongs. He also loved boating and swimming.

His family wrote, &#8220Frank was very dedicated … to his work, family and many friends. He was loved by all. He loved to hike through the woods with his favorite dog Bingo and watch the birds and look at the beautiful wildflowers of many colors. He loved getting together with friends and family for a barbecue, listening to music, playing his guitar and singing. He will be missed by all. He was a very fun loving, kind, and gentle man. Everyone loved him. He will be greatly missed.”

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Johnson; daughters, Karen Johnson and Diane Sundgren; stepchildren, James Dennis of Wasilla, Sherry Morris of Fairbanks and Penny Toston of Garden Grove, Calif.; two stepchildren by a former marriage, Gary Preistly of Anchorage and Terry Sovik of Anchorage; grandchildren, Don, Erica, Cail and Zachary; stepgrandchildren, Kevin, Jennifer, Tina, Rebecca, Corey, Joshua, Kelly, Aubrey and Randi; brothers, Ray, George and Ernie of Sunnyside, Wash., and Robert of Palato, Calif.; sisters, Geneive of Spokane, Wash., Dorothy of Yakima, Wash., and Velma of Issaquah, Wash.

Memorial donations can be made to Evelyn Johnson, 3033 Whispering Woods, Wasilla, AK 99654.

Eva Irene

Martin

Eva Irene Martin, 72, died Dec. 19, 2006, at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center in Palmer due to natural causes. A private family memorial service was Dec. 19, 2006, at Valley Funeral Home and Crematory in Wasilla.

She was born March 1, 1934, in Juanita, Mich., where she attended high school. In 2002, she moved to Alaska and lived in Wasilla until her death.

She was a homemaker and did custodial work. She retired in 1997. She was affiliated with Wasilla Bible Church. Some hobbies she enjoyed included puzzles, crocheting, cooking and baking. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Her family stated, &#8220As in life, she was surrounded with love and support of her children during her passing. You may be gone from the earth, but you're here in our hearts.”

She is survived by her son, Roger Glenn Stevens of Michigan; daughter, Carol Lynn Huizar of Wasilla; son, Donald Jay Stevens of Anchorage; daughter, Donna Beth Keilitz of Cass City, Mich.; granddaughter, Dominique Irene Huizar of Wasilla; grandson, Casey Dale Huizar of Wasilla; grandson, Clinton Lewis Keilitz of Kingston, Mich.; grandson, Kyle Lee Keilitz of Cass City; and sister, Evelyn Averil, of Davidson, Mich.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Martin; parents, Floyd and Maude Waterman; eight brothers, Vern, Carson, Roy, Clifford, Keith, Bernard, Leo and Leroy; three sisters, Betty, Wava and Twilla; son, Michael Wade Stevens; and two stillborn boys.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in her name to The Alaskan Aides Assistants Association in Anchorage would be appreciated. Her ashes will be buried at Ellington Township Cemetery in Caro, Mich., with her

husband.
