PALMER — The Colony Knights started the 2017 season just how they ended 2016 by winning a team title.
The defending state champs opened the new season with a first-place finish in the Houston Altercation Saturday at Houston High School.
A trio of Knights won their weight classes as the Knights amassed 224.5 points in the team standings. Runner-up South Anchorage finished with 171.5. Aiden Ehmann (113), Vincent Cramer (120), and Sam Sisco (132 pounds) each finished firs for Colony. TJ Clapp (98), Marcus Riedlinger (113), Rush Fannon (126), Trace Severson (145), Gerritt Schaafsma (152), Simon Ganchenko (195).
Wasilla finished third with 133.5 points. Christion Alexander led the Warriors with a first-place finish in the 138-pound class. Alexander Logsdon (120), Hunter Hayes (132), Sterling Uhlenhake (138), Jeffrey Palmer (220) and Amos Bartlett (285) placed second.
Palmer placed fourth with 101 points. Christian Kurka finished first at 195 to lead the Moose. Jason Watkins (160) and Jackson Acree (170) were second for the Moose.
Dylan Jackson led sixth-place Houston with a first-place finish in the 285-pound class.
