This email is to regard some deficiencies with the city wide clean up days. Though it is a good idea for kids to get prizes for the trash they pick up, to expect 8 to 12 year olds to carry large bags of trash to wonderland park doesn’t make sense. In addressing this problem with the current administration, they believe it’s a waste of city resources to remove bags of trash from the roadway. Knowing city resources are limited I believe removing bags of trash from Wasilla’s roadways should be a higher priority than it is. Checking with other metropolitan areas, for instance the Municipality of Anchorage has a contest between all the elementary schools to see which school can collect the most trash. Afterward the public works department or the department of transportation picks up any trash bags left along the roadway. Enclosing I hope that some of the suggestions will ultimately result in a cleaner Wasilla.
